From 1959-87, the Chevrolet El Camino was a vehicle hybrid, combining the practicality of a pickup truck, passenger car comfort, stylish design, and, with the Super Sport package, high-performance muscle.Īccording to The Drive, the El Camino is “the world’s most loved car/truck.” It is being sold on its registration.‘El Camino’ translates from Spanish as ‘the path’ or ‘the way.’ It is an appropriate name for a car that signalled a new direction f or General Motors (GM). The car does not have a title, as it is registered in a state that does not issue titles for a vehicle of its age. The rear end is said to be equipped with 3.42:1 gears. The three-speed automatic transmission was reportedly rebuilt and fitted with a B&M shift kit and a transmission cooler. A GM trailer hitch included and tailgate hinge covers are included in the sale. Additional equipment includes a replacement wiring harness, an MSD ignition system, and a custom exhaust system. The 5.7-liter Vortec V8 was reportedly sourced from a 1999 Suburban and is now equipped with a Holley carburetor and an Edelbrock intake manifold. ![]() The five-digit odometer shows 55k miles, and the true mileage is unknown. The two-spoke steering wheel on a tilt column is wrapped and fronts a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer, a clock, and gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, and amperage. Features include a heater, three-point seatbelts, power steering, floor mats, LED lighting, an aftermarket vintage-style radio, and floor-mounted speakers. The headliner was replaced, and sound deadening material is applied under the replacement carpets. The cabin is upholstered in black and features vinyl-trimmed bucket seats. Rancho shocks, sway bars, and a Z28 close-ratio steering box are fitted, and braking is handling by front discs and rear drums. A spare tire is mounted in the cabin behind the seats. Replacement 15″ Rally wheels are wrapped in BFGoodrich Silvertown Radial redline tires. The door and roof rails seals were replaced, and scratches are noted on the side glass. Equipment includes LED lighting, dual side-view mirrors, a Craft Tec vinyl bed cover, and dual exhaust outlets. Under the seller’s ownership, the bodywork was repainted by Westchester Classic Cars in the factory Tuxedo Black, and additional work included re-chroming the bumpers and replacing the trim. Work performed during previous ownership by included sandblasting and painting the frame, applying two coats of epoxy coating to the floor panels, frame, and front subframe. ![]() This El Camino is now offered with partial service records, spare parts, refurbishment photos, and Connecticut registration. This 1973 Chevrolet El Camino was acquired by the seller in 2013 as a stalled project and was subsequently modified and refurbished.
